Because so many people have asked... |
Since first opening our doors back in March 2024, people have often asked for the title of the song currently playing in the gallery, which we take as a compliment, as music is an important part of the atmosphere here, and visitors often find themselves drawn to a particular track or artist they've never encountered before. I guess because Zoe and I have both travelled extensively throughout our lives, with previous careers taking us around the world over many decades, our musical tastes have been influenced by many different places and cultures, and the playlist that accompanies the artwork reflects that journey. All of the music played in the gallery is streamed from an off-site server running Plex on a Linux platform. At present, the library contains 3,366 albums spanning a wide range of artists, genres and influences collected over a lifetime. This gives us plenty of scope to keep the soundtrack fresh, varied and often unexpected, and because the system keeps detailed playback logs, we can, with a little technical wizardry, analyse the data to discover which albums and tracks have been played most often over any given period. |
So, rather than answering the same question over and over again, I'll quietly start publishing a monthly roundup of the gallery's most-played album and track. I'll also add links to the Discogs database for those who'd like to know more, along with official YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify links whenever they're available, plus a link to purchase the album. So, without further ado... |
As some of our favourite songs are also added to playlists on the Plex server, the most-played track isn't necessarily from the most-played album. |
If you like what you hear, then please consider purchasing the artist's albums to allow them to continue to make great music.
Our lives would be far less interesting without them!
