Farewell exhibition of Martin Honert

With his exhibition "Fliegendes Klassenzimmer" (Flying Classroom) Martin Honert is bidding farewell to the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden (Dresden University of Fine Arts), where he was Professor of Three-Dimensional Design from 1998 through 2021. The title of the exhibition refers to the eponymous children's book by Erich Kästner, which was published in 1933 with illustrations by Walter Trier. It was the starting point for Martin Honert's contribution to the 1995 Venice Biennale, for which he developed a scenic model of the "Fliegendes Klassenzimmer." Martin Honert's oeuvre addresses the way in which images mediate the structure of memories.
