We hope you all had an excellent Summer. Cavaliero Finn's Autumn programme kicks off later this month with a presentation at the British Art Fair and we'd love to see you there. This year, you'll find Cavaliero Finn in Booth 44 on the first floor of the Saatchi Gallery. Here's a sneaky peek of what we've got in store for you.

new artist - Krzysztof Strzelecki

We are proud to be previewing the brilliant work of artist Krzysztof Strzelecki (born 1993, Poland) at the fair. We first saw Krzysztof’s work at the British Ceramics Biennial and were blown away by his unique vision, narrative and technique making predominantly ceramic work exploring queer culture and intimacy.

Krzysztof has presented solo exhibitions at Anat Ebgi in Los Angeles and New York, and at Taymour Grahne Projects, London. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the British Ceramics Biennial, 2024 and is held in the permanent collections of the RISD Museum and the Dallas Museum of Art in the US.

Just last month it was announced that Krzysztof is one of 28 finalists in the 6th edition of the Officine Saffi Award which will be presented at Fondazione Officine Saffi in Milan from 30 September to November 13 2026. The international jury was made up of leading art world figures, Massimo De Carlo, Patricia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Asad Syrkett, Jennifer Lee, Marco Sammicheli, Valentina Ciuffi, Laura Borghi and Francois Melle.

Krzysztof's ceramic vessel, Labour XI – The Weight of Gold 2026, featured here, is just one of the works we'll have on show from The Cruising Fantasies series. It draws on the myth of Hercules’ eleventh labour: the quest for the golden apples of the Hesperides. The constellation of Hercules appears at the top of the vessel, linking the hero’s earthly labours to his immortal place among the stars.

The unglazed surface of this vessel recalls the appearance of ancient Greek ceramics, while the imagery brings themes of desire, pleasure and companionship into dialogue with classical mythology. Every side of the vessel depicts a mythical scene exploring the relationship between the contemporary body and its historical representations.

Also drawing from mythology, constellations and man’s place in the landscape, is artist Simon Gaiger who has made some spectacular sculptures for the fair including, Landscape with Constellation and Sentinel (featured in the header above).

Simon utilises found objects into his work saying, "They’re the things around us that reflect our lives – as material for art they are beyond their original use or broken pieces that are free to use in another guise. Found objects harness the instinctive childlike response to anthropomorphize – to give a new life to a fragment and to enjoy sharing the recognition of that translation with other people or the pleasure of disguising it from them. Taken out of their original context found objects provide powerful abstract elements."

We have several new works from David Edmond’s ongoing series, At the Edge, which focuses on a collection of self-built homes and boathouses, tucked behind long marsh grass on a muddy creek at Broadness Harbour on the Thames Estuary. The paintings are study of the creative free spirit under threat from the homogenisation of society. At the time of writing, the last occupant of Broadness Harbour has recently been evicted after 34 years, the buildings and community destroyed in the name of future development.

These humble dwellings stood on the edge, both socially and geographically — and it is precisely these quality that have drawn and inspired him. Rembrandt too was drawn to marginalised people and old weathered buildings as they offered him a real view of the human condition. He sought out truth texture and emotional honesty. Whatever the everyday subject matter, be it gardens, beaches or streets, David applies his trademark textures to the canvas mixing detailed areas with looser brushstrokes to wonderful effect.

David breaks down these ramshackle buildings into abstract elements referencing geometry and modernism showing how the past can influence the future as these structures stand as a legendary symbol of the disappearing maritime history of the Lower Thames. Land battles continue as the ever increasing threat from developers lingers ominously.

NEW WORK FROM JOSEPH GOODY

We’re delighted to be showing two paintings by Joseph Goody at the British Art Fair. There is an immediate vibrancy and energy to Joseph’s latest canvases. His work brings together his considered, well-thought-out approach to painting and his wonderful sense of spontaneity and intuition. The result is work that can feel carefully constructed and instinctive at the same time.

Joseph explores the relationship between colour, shape and layered textures in these works. Some forms sit clearly on the surface, while others merge, overlap or become partially obscured within the layers beneath. At times, shapes seem almost to fuse together, creating a sense of movement and encouraging the eye to travel around the canvas. Colour is equally instinctive. Rather than working to a predetermined palette, Joseph allows colours to emerge organically as he paints. Combined with his deft handling of paint, this gives each work its own natural rhythm and energy.
