Each year, BASTIAN London invites a new, young artist as a summer guest to represent the seasonal programming during the sunny months. This year’s guest is Austrian painter Edin Zenun (Skopje, 1987) whose vibrant canvases portray an activated interaction between form and colour. Zenun confronts materiality on an integrated level, with a hand in both his compositions as well as his material, delving into an exploration of his own handmade pigments, oil, and clay. Opening July 14th, the exhibition will include an entirely new body of never-before seen work. His recent paintings strike a balance between figuration and abstraction, traversing the interface between retinal and psychological comprehension. |

Our current exhibition at BASTIAN Berlin, Robert Rauschenberg’s A Window to the World presents a series of monochrome works produced by the artist during his late twenties during the summer of 1954 in New York City. The collection of multimedia collage paintings utilise newspaper clippings dipped in paint, and convey Rauschenberg’s characteristically gestural, passionate vocabulary of Abstract Expressionism. The exhibition is on view through July 30.

Our current exhibition at BASTIAN London, Emil Nolde’s Anatomy of Light and Water opened in early May. A lyrical collection of watercolour seascapes, the paintings reflect the scenery from Nolde’s upbringing between the North and Baltic seas, as well as the roaring sea’s atmospheric play with wind, sun, and sky. Coming directly from the Nolde Foundation and Nolde’s former home in Seebüll, it is the first time that many of the works have been on display in several decades. Their rich palettes and delicate transitions encapsulate the force and majesty of the littoral landscape. The exhibition is on view through June 30.
