Continuing through December 5, 2021, Esther Schipper is pleased to present a solo presentation of works by Florin Mitroi as part of SOLO SHOW, a program by COOP (Check Out Our Project) a flexible community formed in 2018 to experiment with new forms of art activities, initiated by Jung Jaeho (Gallery2), Yeo Joonsoo (Gallery Chosun), and Kim Inseon (Space Willing N Dealing). On view will be a selection of portraits painted with tempera, as well as ink drawings, and zinc cut-outs.

Florin Mitroi was born in 1938 in Craiova, in the south-western part of Romania. He lived and worked in Bucharest until his death in 2002, at the age of 64. A passionate teacher, but a reserved individual, Mitroi had only one solo exhibition during his lifetime, in 1993 at Catacomba in Bucharest. Only after his death and the discovery of numerous works in his studio, did his prolific production became apparent, with more than 8,000 graphic works, drawings, engravings, paintings, and carved objects in metal.

2021년 12월 5일까지 열리는 SOLO SHOW 에 에스더쉬퍼 갤러리는 플로린미트로이 작품을 선보입니다. COOP(Check Out Our Project)이 2018년부터 시작한 새로운 형태의 아트 플랫폼으로 갤러리2의 정재호 대표, 갤러리 조선의 여준수 디렉터, 스페이스 윌링앤딜링의 김인선 대표가 모여 기획하였습니다. 에스더 쉬퍼 갤러리 부스에서는 플로린 미트로이의 템페라, 잉크 드로잉, 아연을 잘라 만든 작품 등 다양한 작품들을 감상하실 수 있습니다.

플로린 미트로이는 1938년 루마니아 남서부에 위치한 크라요바에서 태어났습니다. 작가는 2002년 64세의 나이로 사망할때까지 부쿠레슈티에서 살며 작업했습니다. 그는 내성적이었지만 열정적인 교사였습니다. 생전 부쿠레슈티의 카타콤바에서 단 한 번의 개인전을 가진 무명 화가였지만, 그가 죽은 이후 작업실에서 드로잉, 페인팅, 조각 등 8,000여점의 작품들이 발견되었습니다. 이 후 플로린의 작품들은 루마니아의 전후 예술의 중요한 기록으로 주목받기 시작했습니다.
