Director’s Note

Dear Patrons,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer.
Over the past few months, it has been deeply rewarding to see our vision of building a vibrant arts community continue to grow. From our art therapy workshops for adults and children, which offered participants a safe and creative space for self-expression, to A Closer Look, where we brought significant works by two senior artists into the clubhouse and invited viewers to experience them beyond the traditional gallery setting, each initiative has reaffirmed the power of art to inspire dialogue and connection. The months ahead promise to be equally exciting. We look forward to presenting the second edition of UNDER 10, an exhibition that offers an exceptional opportunity to acquire works by celebrated South Asian modern and contemporary artists, all priced under ₹10 lakhs.
We are also delighted to welcome renowned conservator Anupama Gaur for a hands-on conservation workshop and talk, offering participants a rare opportunity to learn practical techniques for caring for artworks and treasured objects in an interactive setting.
Beginning in early August, we will present our first annual showcase, bringing together museum-quality works by some of the most significant South Asian modern and contemporary masters. This landmark exhibition marks an important milestone in Antarang Art Gallery’s journey as we continue to establish the gallery as a destination for investment-grade South Asian art.
Thank you for being part of this growing community. We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery and sharing these experiences with you in the months ahead.

Warmly,
Sania G. Vohra

Spotlight | Edition IV

The Language of Love : Paintings and Sculptures by Dr. P. Gnana
August 7 - 17, 2026

Dr. P. Gnana explores the multiple forms of love, a universal feeling accentuated by the comforting fact that no living being is alone in it. Rooted in personal memory yet prevalent in spirit, his works celebrate tenderness, devotion, and human connection. Recurring motifs such as the cow, a symbol drawn from the artist's childhood, and his deep affection for his mother become metaphors for care, companionship, and belonging. Rich in colour, texture, and emotion, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the relationships that shape our lives.

Antarang Art Gallery will present the inaugural edition of our flagship exhibition that marks the beginning of a defining annual tradition. Bringing together significant works by Indian Modern masters alongside senior contemporary artists, the exhibition celebrates the enduring legacy, evolution, and continued vitality of South Asian art. This exhibition reflects our commitment to establishing Antarang as a destination for museum-quality Modern and Contemporary art.

The Creative Pause

A Mindful Art Workshop for Kids
7 June 2026

Facilitated by developmental psychologist Tanmay Kapahi and special educator Aditi Khanna, this interactive workshop guided children through a series of collaborative drawing, mindful mark-making, storytelling, and reflective art exercises. Through playful timed drawing exchanges, a shared reading of The Dot, responses to gallery artworks, and facilitator-guided interpretations, they created circle-inspired compositions influenced by Wassily Kandinsky, S.H. Raza, Yayoi Kusama, and Bharti Kher. The workshop concluded with calming neurography-inspired drawing exercises designed to promote focus and relaxation.

The Curious Collector Series | Edition II

Foundations of Modern Indian Art
24 April 2026

In the second Curious Collector series, Sania G. Vohra and Nidhi Panta traced the journey of Indian art from tradition to modernity, beginning with Raja Ravi Varma and moving through the Progressive Artists’ Group. Framed by the opening question, “What makes art ‘modern’?” the series focused on techniques, periods, and shifts in thinking, and featured an open discussion on how contemporary art can become more approachable for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Sensation to Form

An Immersive Art Therapy Workshop
15 April 2026

Led by artist Hansika Mangwani, this immersive art therapy workshop guided participants to explore interoception, the awareness of internal sensations such as breath, heartbeat, and stillness. The session offered a gentle, creative pathway for mapping one’s inner landscape and deepening the mind-body connection. Many participants found it to be a cathartic experience.

Artwork in Focus - Modern

M.F. Husain
Untitled
Watercolour on paper
44.5 x 17.5 in
In this work, M.F. Husain employs delicate brushwork and controlled wet-on-wet techniques to create luminous bamboo stalks that frame the figures, adding depth and a sense of shelter. The depiction of the tiger draws from Indian cultural symbolism and modernist visual vocabulary, existing between literal wildlife representation and metaphorical abstraction. Rather than presenting the tiger as an aggressive or confrontational predator, the work evokes themes of protection, nurturing strength, and family bonds through a calm, stylised composition within a dense bamboo thicket, where the cub appears partially veiled behind the foliage. Marked by a sensitivity to negative space and an expressive use of transparent washes, the watercolour balances quiet authority with tenderness through layered greens, soft umber, pale gold, and muted sepia tones.

Artwork in Focus - Contemporary

Bandana Jain
Whispering Drapes
Corrugated
70 x 22 x 98 in
Bandana Jain's works derive from the micro and macro aspects of life and the world at large, existing between childhood nostalgia and contemporary environmental consciousness. Rather than viewing corrugated cardboard as mere packaging material, she elevates it into awe-inspiring works of art that speak of both opulence and legacy. Marked by a distinctive visual language that blends luxury, elegance, and sustainability, her creations transform discarded material into collectable pieces admired by global institutions and discerning connoisseurs. While recurring themes of memory and sustainability run through her oeuvre, Whispering Drapes, a sculptural seat crafted entirely from corrugated cardboard, blurs the line between art and utility, inviting the viewer to sit with nostalgia and experience art beyond the visual.
