Covid-19 has posed unique obstacles for artists but these painters, sculptors, photographers, and printmakers have found ways to work around these shortcomings. From utilizing digital tools such as virtual galleries, online exhibitions and hosting studio visits via video to participating in pop-up exhibitions, these artists continue to create new methods to present their work.

Painter Francie Lyshak invited the public for a virtual visit into her NYC studio to discuss her work and process as well as her exhibit of new paintings at Carter Burden Gallery. Using Instagram LIVE, a casual split-screen format, curator Jen Dragon asked Ms. Lyshak about her experience with the quarantine, its effect on her studio practice and the meanings behind her rich, color-field canvases.

 

Virtual Museum Exhibitions

Artists Exhibit in Designer Show House

The Kingston Design Connection Show House is an annual exhibition for designers, makers, and artists who live and work in the Hudson Valley and New York City region. Cross Contemporary Partners has once again been invited to curate outdoor sculpture on the estate grounds and two indoor galleries in the mansion itself. Painter Martin Weinstein and printmaker Stewart Nachmias are part of the Third Annual Kingston Design Connection Show House open weekends starting Nov. 27 and running through Dec. 13. Because of Covid, all tickets must be purchased in advance and a specific visiting time reserved as no more than 10 visitors will be allowed per 45-minute interval. See all artworks on ARTSY.

Nancy Macko in Eco-Consciousness

Artist Nancy Macko exhibits her large-scale artwork Meadow in EcoArtsSpace national juried exhibition: Eco-Consciousness. Curated by Eleanor Heartney, the juried show is virtual this year however Macko's gigantic artwork (measuring 12 feet by 36 feet) is a part of her touring exhibit: The Fragile Bee recently at the Chicago Academy of Sciences and the Discovery Museum of Bridgeport, CT and next due at the Hilliard Art Museum, Lafayette, LA in 2021.
