É com muita alegria que anunciamos que Aline Motta é a vencedora da 2° Edição do Prêmio Selo Mandacaru, cujo resultado foi divulgado na ArPa Feira de Arte 2024.

As indicações tiveram curadoria de Vânia Leal que, em conjunto com o Mandacaru e Camila Barella, selecionaram a obra premiada e adquirida, passando a fazer parte do acervo do projeto.
De acordo com o Projeto Mandacaru, "O Selo (...) foi pensado como mais uma possibilidade de visibilidade para o artista e fortalecimento do mercado da produção emergente. Tem como missão premiar e difundir a produção artística de minorias de direito, ampliando o olhar para artistas prioritariamente fora do eixo Rio/SP."

It is with great joy that we announce that Aline Motta is the winner of the 2nd Edition of the Selo Mandacaru Award, which results were announced at the ArPa Art Fair 2024.

The nominations were curated by Vânia Leal who, along with Mandacaru and Camila Barella, selected the award-winning and acquired work, becoming part of the project's collection.
According to the Mandacaru Project, "The award was thought of as another possibility of visibility for the artist and strengthening the emerging production market. Its mission is to reward and disseminate the artistic production of minorities of right, expanding the look at artists primarily outside the Rio/SP axis."

Aline Motta nasceu em Niterói (RJ), em 1974, e mora em São Paulo. Combina diferentes técnicas e práticas artísticas em seu trabalho, como fotografia, vídeo, instalação, performance e colagem. De modo crítico, suas obras reconfiguram memórias, em especial as afro-atlânticas, e constroem novas narrativas que invocam uma ideia não linear do tempo.

Foi contemplada com o Programa Rumos Itaú Cultural 2015/2016, com a Bolsa ZUM de Fotografia do Instituto Moreira Salles 2018 e com 7o Prêmio Indústria Nacional Marcantonio Vilaça 2019. Recentemente participou de exposições importantes como "Histórias Feministas, artistas depois de 2000" - MASP, “Histórias Afro- Atlânticas” - MASP/Tomie Ohtake, "Cuando cambia el mundo" - Centro Cultural Kirchner, Buenos Aires, Argentina e "Pensar tudo de nuevo" - Les Rencontres de la Photographie, Arles, França. Abriu sua exposição individual "Aline Motta: memória, viagem e água" no MAR/Museu de Arte do Rio em 2020. Em 2021 exibiu seus trabalhos em vídeo no New Museum (NY) no programa "Screen Series". Em 2022 lançou seu primeiro livro "A água é uma máquina do tempo" pelas editoras Fósforo e Luna Parque Edições (finalista do prêmio literário Jabuti), abriu exposição individual no átrio do Sesc Belenzinho e na sala de vídeo do MASP. Em 2023, expôs na 15a. Bienal de Sharjah (EAU), no MoMA Museum of Modern Art (NY) e na 35a Bienal de Arte de São Paulo. Foi uma das vencedoras do Prêmio PIPA 2024.

Aline Motta was born in Niterói (RJ), in 1974, and lives in São Paulo. She combines different techniques and artistic practices in her work, such as photography, video, installation, performance and collage. Critically, her works reconfigure memories, especially Afro-Atlantic ones, and construct new narratives that invoke a non-linear idea of ​​time.

She has received the Rumos Itaú Cultural 2015/2016 grant, earned the ZUM Photography Scholarship of Instituto Moreira Salles in 2018 and the prestigious "Marcantonio Vilaça Award for the Arts" in 2019. She recently participated in groundbreaking exhibitions such as "Feminist Histories: artists after 2000" - São Paulo Art Museum/MASP, "Afro-Atlantic Histories" - MASP / Tomie Ohtake, "When the world changes"- Centro Cultural Kirchner, Buenos Aires, Argentina and "Rethink everything", Les Rencontres de la Photographie, Arles, France. Her solo exhibition "Aline Motta: memory, journey and water" opened at the Rio Art Museum/MAR in 2020. In 2021, her video work was exhibited at the New Museum (NY) as part of the "Screen Series" program. In 2022, she released her first fiction book "Water is a time machine" (a finalist for the Jabuti, Brazil's most prestigious literary award). Also, had solo shows at Sesc Belenzinho and MASP in São Paulo. In 2023, exhibited in the Sharjah Biennial 15 (UAE), at MoMA Museum of Modern Art (NY) in “Chosen Memories: Contemporary Latin American Art from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Gift and Beyond" and the 35th São Paulo Biennial. Aline is one of the winners of the PIPA Prize 2024.
